why do some moms feel they need to feed their toddlers like babies?
Posted by: admin / Category: what to feed toddlers…
Why do some moms think they need to feed their kids gerber graduated until there like 3? My best friend wont feed her 3 year old regular snacks or meals…just gerber graduate stuff. I think its a waste of money. that stuff is for kids who are like 9 to 18 months…not 3. right? this is all she feeds her son. and she dosent work.
I agree with you. I do daycare and one little boy I have is 2 and that is all his parents feed him. Lunch and Dinner! It is all processed crap. I think it is all about the time. Parents these days are so lazy! Not to mention half of the food either looks gross or smells gross. Those pasta pickups just sceeve me out! I won’t feed my kids that crap. My kids have been eating regular table food since 10 months old. People out there are crazy, glad to hear that your not! lol

Why do you care? As long as the mother and child are happy and healthy, why does it bother you what they eat? Keep your eyes on your own plate and you’ll be happier.

At three years old they can eat "adult" food. Your friend is wasting her money.

Seriously? Your friend needs to wake up. Some mothers don’t like the fact that kids grow up. My son is 2 years old and he has been eating regular food since he was 9 months old. As long as the mother prepares the food adjusted to their age (i.e. teeth , no teeth) the baby should be fine. My best friend is just like your friend. Her son is the same age as my son and she feeds him Pediasure like it’s breast milk. His diapers are so gross. She wonders why her son won’t stop pooping like a newborn. Yuck! Anyway, she might be in denial.

I have 2 kids iam totally agree with you.. the homemade food ismuch fresh & healty. Its incredible how this type of food is becommoimg soo popular I believe i would only buy this type of gerber graduated stuff if iam super mega bussy with no time at all to cook . Your friend can offer healthy snacks to her kids such:Fruits: apples, pears, straberry bananana cuts in pieces, Peanut butter & jelly spread on bread, ham & cheese sanwich cut in 4pc,Cheese sticks etc. This are some of the snack i give to my 18month old son & 31/2 daugther. I f your friends is too lacy to make healty snack then she should prepare her kids snacks 2 times a week and put them in a sanwich Ziplo so she can have then ready for her kids. BUT AGAIN each parents have their own parenting style. Not a huge deal !

The gerber graduates are targeted for older toddlers-preschoolers…..but I agree with you its a waste of money and if I may say, probably a lazy way out to not make a meal. A 3 year old can definitely eat anything her mother is.

I think it’s your friend’s personal choice to feed her child what she wants. It’s not as if she’s choosing cookies or something unhealthy. Just because you think it’s a waste of money doesn’t mean it is. Giving unwanted advice on parenting could make you lose a good friend.

maybe its her way of feeding him healthy food if she doesn’t cook at home. The advertising really affect people’s relationships to certain brands. She will have an easier time if she gets him used to healthy table food. She is doing more harm than good by constricting his diet.

its better then mcdonalds.
too much processed foods isn’t too healthy either. they put a load of crap in the baby food to preserve it.
well, i wouldn’t waste my time worrying about what other people feed their kids.
edit: maybe she just can’t cook.

My 3yr old daughter is an EXTREMELY picky eater, and I found the gerber graduates to be a great way to get her to eat veggies. Most, if not all of the varieties they offer have veggies in them, and I keep a few on hand for those days that all she wants to eat is chicken.
If that’s ALL the child is eating, then yeah thats a problem, but for a snack or as an addition to table food, I don’t see what the problem is, especially if its supplying the child with much needed fruits/veggies that they otherwise wouldn’t eat.

Ginormous waste of money. We haven’t give our 18 month old any special baby food since she was about a year old. The graduates stuff is for parents who are too busy (or lazy) to cut food into little pieces themselves. That said, to each their own.
Lol, two thumbs down. I guess I hit a nerve.

Wrong……….
Actually those Graduates are good for kids older than just 18 months. as a single mom that works full time, I love the Graduates and use at least 2 or 3 times per week. They are life savers when I do not have time to cook and still want her to eat a healthy meal. They are WAY better for her than some of those other "bucket meals" or kids TV dinners out there.
My daughter is 19 months and we use many graduates. Granted, she is too old for some of them. But I love the Lil Entrees as a quick dinner. The Veggie Dices are much better for her than canned vegetables, and the small bucket meals make a healthy and fast lunch.
Yes, she is old enough for a home cooked meal, but it is more important to me that she and I have some bonding time and time to play when i get home from work instead of me using all the time I could be with her to cook. No every one can be a domestic goddess and whip out home cooked meals every night. I cook on the weekends, and make enough to have left overs a few nights during the week. But those other nights (particularly if we have something going on) it is Lean Cuisine and Gerber Graduates.
Now if that is ALL your friend feeds her child, then you are right…….that is not good. But there is no harm in using the Graduate Meals from time to time.

I am a single mom that works full time also. I give my daughter gerber graduates 3-4x a week also. Its just us to so I dont cook often because its just the two of us. I dont really understand what is so wrong with giving gerber graduates. I cant believe that everyone is judging other people and the way they parent. As long as the kids are healthy and happy thats all that matters. I mean really people lets make a big deal out of something stupid. Great role models for our kids.
